Governor Ron Desantis includes $2.5 million for The ALS Bitner Plante initiative in the State of Florida FY 25 budget recommendation.
These recurring funds can help expand access to multidisciplinary care for individuals battling ALS.Ā
A key component to making ALS a livable disease is multidisciplinary care. Studies have shown this specialized ALS care can extend survival and improve patientsā quality of life by providing coordinated interprofessional care that seeks to address the complex needs of people living with the disease.

The National ALS Registry
The National Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Registry gives people with ALS the opportunity to get involved in research and help future generations. Research today can lead to a better understanding of the disease and potential treatments tomorrow. By signing up for theĀ National ALS Registry, being counted and answering survey questions, people living with ALS can help find answers about who gets the disease and what they have in common.
ALS Support Groups
ALS Resource Connections groups provide a caring, supportive, open environment for people to gather, connect, and talk with one another. These groups are open to personsĀ living with ALS, their families, caregivers and friends, and are located around the state. They provide opportunities to learn more about living with the disease from others who understand the challenges, and to help establish a network of valuable resources and sustained support. A Regional Program Manager facilitates each meeting and will have speakers on relevant topics combined with time for attendees to discuss and share information and provide feedback to one another.
