John Richard “Dick” Miller was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam-era, but ended up in Nike Hercules missile school and served in the Cold War in West Germany. After discharge, he finished college and had 2 careers, the first and longer with the local Gas company in software systems, and the second as a para-educator and musician for special education. After gait issues starting 2020, Dick was ultimately diagnosed with ALS in 2022. The VA has been a huge materiel and financial resource keeping him home in safety and comfort. Dick’s daughter and family live close and visit weekly.
