The ALS Association Florida Chapter collaborates with some of the best ALS physicians and clinics across the United States to help ensure that people living with ALS have access to specialized care, based on best practices.
These ALS Clinics and ALS Association Certified Centers of Excellence provide compassionate care in a supportive, family-oriented atmosphere modeled after the criteria of The ALS Association Center℠ Program.
This unique model brings together a team of medical professionals specially trained to meet the needs of those living with ALS, allowing the patient to receive care from each discipline during a single visit. A multidisciplinary team typically includes a neurologist, specialized nurse case manager, pulmonologist (available as needed), gastroenterologist (available as needed), respiratory therapist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, dietitian, social worker, psychologist, palliative care expert (available as needed), and an ALS Association Chapter-Clinic Liaison. A member of our team is always present when a patient registered with us visits one of our Certified Centers or Affiliated Clinics. We communicate and work closely with clinic staff, assuring they provide the specialized care necessary to meet the needs of each patient.

Certified Treatment Centers of Excellence
The ALS Association Certified Treatment Center of Excellence Program designs, implements, and monitors a national standard of best-practice care in the management of ALS. Certifications are based on established requirements of the program, professionals’ skill sets, people living with ALS served, active involvement in ALS-related research, relationships with local Chapters, and access to care.

Recognized Treatment Centers
The ALS Association Recognized Treatment Centers have the same high quality approach to multidisciplinary care as The ALS Association Certified Treatment Centers of Excellence; however, they may not offer onsite research or opportunities to participate in clinical trials. This designation assures patients of the very best standard of care, while also communicating the fact that research or clinical trial involvement may not be part of the institution’s offerings.
Affiliated Clinics
It is important to note that other models of care are necessary to meet the needs of all people living with ALS in the United States. The ALS Association Florida Chapter provides educational and other support to these practitioners and those they serve in their local community. Even though the following clinics follow a multidisciplinary model of treatment and care, they are not an official part of The ALS Association Certified Center Program.
