Programs & Services
The ALS Association Massachusetts Chapter works diligently to assist families affected by ALS throughout the Commonwealth. Our comprehensive program offerings include but are not limited to:
-
Durable Medical Equipment Loan Program: Increasingly, medical equipment is not covered by insurance, or takes too long to get into a patient’s home via insurance (families often cannot do without critical equipment while waiting for insurance to provide it). Our Chapter maintains an equipment loan closet and provides the equipment free of charge to families in need.
-
Ramp Loan Program: Our Chapter partners with AmRamp, a national ramp manufacturer and installer located in South Boston, for a no-cost, site assessment of ramping needs for a family in need. We provide $1,500 per requested ramp per family. AmRamp provides materials as they are available from our loan closet and then bills the client for any supplemental installation, take-down, and materials required not covered under the already issued grant.
-
Insurance & Benefits Counseling : Care Services staff facilitate community groups across the state to provide support and education to ALS patients and caregivers. We work directly with professional counselors to provide a supportive, welcoming atmosphere.

Camp Hope Loves Company : A no-cost summer camp for children or grandchildren who have lost a parent or grandparent to ALS. Professional counselors, as well as chapter staff, who have experience working with ALS families and their children facilitate the camp.
